FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PEOPLE OF EAST TIMOR

With the humanitarian crisis in East Timor getting worse by the day the time for good intentions has passed, it is now time to do something to help our neighbours and friends.

S.O.S is a rock and roll Internet auction for the benefit of the people of East Timor. All of the funds raised will go directly to Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders), who are on the ground in East and West Timor right now. The money will help MSF get vital medical care to tens of thousands of refugees in East and West Timor.

The auction will be conducted on the World Wide Web at  http://timor.civilisation.org, so the exposure for the cause can truly have a global effect. We are actively searching and receiving the help of dozens of international and Australian acts. There is a list of bands that we are targeting for this cause, anyone who is not contacted directly can contact S.O.S with offers of assistance, and none will be denied.

So, what do we want?

We want stuff, and lots of it. Basically anything that we can auction off that has some relevance to a particular band. Autographed memorabilia, rare stuff, personal items, signed guitars, cars or road crew. Whatever you think someone somewhere would pay some money for. And the more money they would pay the better. It is an auction after all!

Time is a major factor, so please no pontificating. If you are in, you're in. If not please pass this information on to someone who does give a fuck. We are not a major fund-raising organization, we are not aid workers, we are just a few people who give a damn and want to do somethingto help. And you can too!

The tentative date for the Internet auction is Monday the 1st of November, although this is not 100% confirmed at this stage, it is the date we are working towards. So we need to know how people can help out and what they can donate ASAP.

Remember the people of East Timor need vital medical assistance right now, the situation is not going to get any better. MSF and organizations like them need cash help and they need it now.
