East Timor: Dili Seeks Preferential Trade Agreement with Australia 14 Jun-11:47

Senior East Timorese leader Jose Ramos Horta said Wednesday that Dili was seeking a preferential trade accord with Australia, as it has already done with the European Union and the United States. "The lifting of tariffs on Timorese products such as fishing, agricultural goods, coffee and small industrial products, like processed foods, would be very important for our economy," the Nobel Peace Prize winner said in Melbourne. Similar discussions, Ramos Horta added, were already underway with the EU and Washington.
