East Timor: Cabinet to Get Timorese Environment Minister 22 Sept-11:28
UN administrator Sergio Vieira de Mello announced Friday in Dili that
he would soon appoint an East Timorese to a ministerial-level post of
planning and environment in the territory's transitional cabinet.
Acknowledging that environmental concerns had "not been on the
agenda" up to now in East Timor, Vieira de Mello said the appointment
would take place within two or three days.
He made the announcement in launching World Clean-up Day operations in
the Timorese capital.
