East Timor Bishop thanks South Australia for support
East Timor's Bishop Carlos Belo will make a flying visit to Adelaide
this afternoon to thank South Australia for its support during his
country's struggle for independence.
Catholic Priest Father John Herd, says the people of South Australia
played a significant role.
"He was conscious of the prayerful support of the many people of
Adelaide which really gave moral support to him and his people, the
financial support contribution to different aid organisations,"
Father Herd said.
"So he's aware that the people of South Australia really
contributed."
Bishop Belo will meet with Archbishop Leonard Faulkner at an informal
reception before flying out to Sydney this evening where he will receive
an honorary degree of Doctor of the Australian Catholic University.
