Dili Express Pte Ltd (DEX-AIR) a Dili, East Timor based company will launch scheduled flights between Dili East Timor, Surabaya, Indonesia and Singapore commencing June 8th 2001.
There will be three flights per week linking Dili to Singapore (return) and 6 return flights per week to Surabaya.
The aicraft, operated under a Joint Services Agreement with P.T. Mandala Airlines will come from their fleet of Boing 737-200A's.
This will be the first time that flights in and out of Dili, East Timor will be operated by an East Timor based company which in the future may form the nucleus of an Airline of East Timor.
All the necessary approvals from Indonesia, Singapore and UNTAET are in place and ticket sales and bookings will commence on May 22nd 2001.
DEX-AIR hopes to connevct Dili to Darwin with this jet service in the near future, subject to obtaining the necessary approvals from the Australian authorities.
DEX-AIR will serve Surabaya as a valuable area for Commercial Trade and Tourism and Singapore for Trade and Tourism and access to the giant Changi International Airport for onward destinations.
