UN invites all heads of state to East Timor's independence day
The United Nations says it has invited the heads of state or government
of all its 189 member states to East Timor's independence ceremony on May
the 20th.
A U-N spokeswoman says letters have been sent out from Secretary
General, Kofi Annan.
East Timor has been under U-N administration since October 1999, after
militias opposed to independence from Jakarta's rule, went on a rampage in
the territory.
