Australian troops help Timorese refugees
The Australian Defence Force says its troops in East Timor are
assisting a record number of Timorese return home from refugees camps in
West Timor.
Brigadier Mike Hannan says last month alone more than four-thousand
refugees crossed the border into East Timor.
Brigadier Hannan says the 12-hundred Australian peacekeepers in East
Timor have played a significant role in their safe return:
"This is a clear sign which reflects the work done by our soldiers
in a assisting to help create a more stable and peaceful environment in
East Timor. It's certainly been very satisfying for the soliders there to
see so many of the Timorese making their way home."
