Timor: New Portuguese-language weekly launched Friday
Dili, Dec. 19 (Lusa) - A new Portuguese language newspaper appeared on
the streets of Dili Friday, the second Lusophone title to be launched in
the new nation since its independence 18 months ago.
The first edition of the weekly, "O Semanário", carried a
frontpage interview with Dili`s prime minister, Mari Alkatiri, as well as
other prominent Timorese.
The new Lusophone newspaper, which sells for USD 0.50, fills the gap in
the market caused by the demise earlier this year of "Correio de
Timor", the country`s first wholly Portuguese-language journal.
