ASSET REGRISTRATION FOR FORMER EAST TIMORESE UP TO MARCH 2004

Jakarta, July 30 (ANTARA) - East Timor's Justice Ministry has given former East Timorese Indonesians until March 2004 to register their immovable assets in the former Indonesian province, at the directorate for land and property.

In a press statement made available here on Wednesday, the Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry's directorate general for information, public diplomacy and international agreement said the registration covers the immovable assets owned by the Indonesian state, private companies and individuals.

Assets not registered after the deadline would be taken over by the East Timorese government, the statement said.

The issue will also be in the agenda of a meeting between President Megawati Soekarnoputri and East Timorese Prime Minister Mari Alkatiri when the latter visits Indonesia on June 10-13 next year.
