Australian Program Supports F-FDTL Progress
Australian and Timor-Leste are building bridges to the future through
the success of the Defence Cooperation Program, which is an agreement
between the two countries to enhance Timor-Leste's defence force (F-FDTL).
The Defence Cooperation Program between Australia and East Timor sees
members of f-FDTL receive a cross-section of training on weapons use,
computer and literacy skills and officer training. At present Australia is
contributing approximately twenty-six servicemen to the training program.
Government faced with challenges
The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Dr Ramos Horta, said
that has a new nation the Government of Timor-Leste and it's institutions
are facing difficulties and have many challenges ahead in every sector of
the society. The quote came from Dr Ramos Horta when he visited the STL
newspaper office last week.
