East Timor: Portugal donates uniforms for new Defense Force officers

Dili, Oct. 21 (Lusa) - Portugal has provided East Timor's Defense Force, which it is helping train, with more than 12,000 items of uniform, Lisbon's embassy in Dili announced Tuesday.

In a communique, the embassy said the aid package was delivered early this month to a graduating class of 60 officers and sergeants, who were trained by Portuguese instructors. So far this year, the communique added, Portugal has provided the fledgling Defense Force with some 21,000 items of uniform.
