Atambua, Jan 24 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government plans to set up
three international schools in subdistricts bordering on East Timor, a
local education service official said here on Saturday.
"The central government is committed to set up international
schools in three districts bordering on East Timor," the head of the
education service of Belu district, Kornelis Besin, said.
One of the schools, namely a secondary vocational school in Kobalima,
had been operating for the past two years. The two others, namely a junior
high-school in East Tasifeto and a senior high-school in Raihat, were
still in a prepratory stage.
"Initially, the central government will allocate Rp1 billion for
the development of each of the shools," he said.
Asked whether East Timor citizens could attend the schools, he said
they could but only after a relevant agreement had been concluded by the
two governments.
