Jakarta, Nov. 25 (VNA) - Viet Nam and East Timor should boost friendship and
cooperation in political, economic, agro-forestry and technology domains, said
East Timor President Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao while receiving newly-accredited
Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Hoang An in Dili on Wednesday.
President Gusmao expressed his pleasure with the fact that the two countries
had established diplomatic ties right after East Timor declared its independence
on May 20, 2002, describing it as an important landmark in bilateral relations.
Ambassador An relayed best regards from President Tran Duc Luong and other
Vietnamese leaders to President Gusmao and stressed that Viet Nam attaches great
importance to developing friendship and multifaceted cooperation with the
Government and people of East Timor in both bilateral and multilateral
frameworks.
The Ambassador expressed his hope that the two countries would accelerate the
exchange of high-level delegations and expand cooperation in many fields,
especially in the economy, commerce and agriculture for peace, stability and
cooperation in Southeast Asia and the world.
The Vietnamese Ambassador also paid a visit to East Timor Prime Minister Mari
