Indonesia arrests 3 over E Timor attacks
Posted 1 hour 17 minutes ago
Indonesian Police have arrested three East Timorese men in connection
with February's assassination attempt on President Jose Ramos-Horta.
Indonesia's President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono says all three men are
members of the East Timorese military.
The three men allegedly crossed the border illegally into Indonesia
shortly after the shooting.
They were arrested last night by Indonesian police, acting on a warrant
issued by East Timor's attorney-general.
The three arrested men are apparently suspects in the attempts, but Mr
Yudhoyono did not go into detail.
East Timor President Jose Ramos-Horta was shot and seriously wounded at
his home in Dili on February 11 by a group of armed rebels, led by former
soldier Alfredo Reinado.
Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao's motorcade was attacked the same morning.
