Timor-Leste to promote relations with China: FM
DILI Timor-Leste, June 16
Timor-Leste Foreign Minster Zacarias da Costa said here on Tuesday that
the Timor- Leste government will further push forward the good and solid
relations with China.
In an interview with Xinhua, the minister said that since its
independence 7 years ago, Timor-Leste had established very good and
constructive ties with China, and many cooperation projects have been
conducted between the two countries.
Costa, who came back from a China recently, said that China has a lot
of experience and knowledge in social and economic counstrution."We
have learnt a lot from China,"he added.
Timor-Leste, he said, also has great potential for cooperation with
China as it has oil, national gas and other natural resources. "We
hope the two countries will work together in infrastructure and tourism
fields,"he noted.
On international forum, he said, Tomor-Leste and China always support
each other, such as Timor-Lester supports one-China policy and China
supports Timor-Leste's efforts to join the Association of Southeast Asian
Nations (ASEAN).
He believed that the bilateral relations between the two countries will
be further strengthened.
