President of Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste and Nobel Peace Price Laureate, Dr Jose Ramos-Horta, today congratulates The Burma’s opposition leader, the Human Right Activist, Aung San Suu Kyi who celebrates her 64th anniversary today

"On the occasion of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s 64th birthday, I ask the Government of Burma to put an end to this senseless trial and to withdraw all of these absurd charges against Aung San Suu Kyi and I call for her immediate and unconditional release,” President said

On this occasion I would like to express our solidarity and unity with Aung San Suu Kyi and her noble efforts.

Our best wishes go out to Aung San Suu Kyi on her Birthday, and I would like her to know that our prayers are with her."

Suu Kyi also received the Nobel Peace Price in 1991. She was born in Rangoon on 19 June 1946, third child in family. "Aung San" for father, "Kyi" for mother, and "Suu" for grandmother

In May 27, 1990, her party (NLD) won the election with the 82% parliamentary seats; however, the SLORC (State Law and Order Restoration Council), refused to recognized the result

She has been detained without trial for more than 13 of the past 19 years, including the last six. END
