China grants US$4.4 million to East Timor for refurbishment of

Dili, East Timor, 21 Oct - China plans to grant East Timor 30 million
yuan (US$4.4 million) for refurbishment of infrastructures, prime
minister, Xanana Gusmão said Tuesday in Dili.
On his return to East Timor after an official visit to China, East
Timor's prime minister said that the Chinese offer was communicated to him
during a meeting he had with his Chiese counterpart, Wen Jiabao, who also
pledged China's efforts towards economic and social development of East
Timor.
The Timorese delegation took part in the 10th International Economic
and Commerce Fair of Western China and the Second International Western
China Forum on International Cooperation, in which Gusmão was an invited
speaker.
The Timorese delegation also visited the shipyard where two patrol
ships ordered by the Timorese government to protect its territorial waters
are currently under construction.
"The ships are due to be delivered to East Timor, in march 2010 at
the latest," said Gusmão.
The prime minister and his delegation also visited 36 Timorese soldiers
who are undergoing training in China and will be part of the crew of the
two patrol ships. (macauhub)
