To live with less, respecting Nature
Curious about the theme “SustainAbility & diverCity” when so
much appears in the media about Climate warming, pollution, and widespread
hunger looming, dozens gathered at the Casa Garden on Saturday to find out
about ‘Education for Sustainable Development’ as well as a project
that’s being implemented in East Timor by ‘naTerra’, a non-profit
association based in Macau.
Members of the association presented and discussed in detail with the
audience their field-work that embraces projects aimed at creating and
sharing alternative solutions. Based on ecology and sustainability through
minimum natural and indigenous resources the projects combine Permaculture
design and holistic Education, while engaging directly with local
communities.
Called ‘Raio de Sol’ (Sunbeam) the ‘heart-felt’ project has
just completed its second phase and will be extended in East Timor until
2012, pending funding.
There were also exhibitions, including “Sustainability, Urban sights”
presented by Borderless Arts Association artists and art educators from
several countries and areas set on helping artists with various
backgrounds to reach their ideals and preserve ethnic culture.
The exhibitions are open until December 19, at the Casa Garden . CJ
