Subject: "Dili declaration" from Student Solidarity
Conference
At the close of the Student Solidarity Conference in Dili, organized by
the Norwegian Student Peace Prize Committee and including Student Peace
Prize laureates from Burma, Colombia, Zimbabwe, Western Sahara and Timor-Leste,
the participants adopted the following declaration (Tetum follows below
English):
DECLARATION
Concerned with the self-determination struggle of the Saharawi people
in Western Sahara;
Sympathizing with the struggle of students for democracy, human rights
and social justice in Colombia, Burma and Zimbabwe and other countries and
of other peoples;
We, organizations and individuals who participated in the series of
discussions during the 'Student Solidarity Conference' organized by the
Students Peace Prize Committee of Norway, in the National University of
Timor-Lorosa'e (UNTL);
Today, 29 of January 2010, we declare the establishment of
'International Solidarity Movement' and commit to spread our cause to
other students and peoples in Norway and other countries;
We will continue to debate through internet and in future meetings, to
elaborate the principles, objectives and other organizational matters and
make necessary actions in order to enable the ongoing struggle for
self-determination, social and ecological justice and or human rights in
each concerned countries, in Timor-Leste and other counties that will be
part of the concern of the Students Solidarity Conference and the Peace
Prize Committee.
