SURABAYA, Indonesia Nov 1 Asia Pulse - The state oil
company Pertamina will remain in East Timor as a foreign investment company with Rp14
billion (US$2 million) in assets according to the firm's domestic logistics and marketing
director Hadi Nugroho.
Pertamina is still operating in East Timor serving members
of the Indonesian military (TNI), local and foreign residents as well as the International
Force for East Timor (Interfet) and United Nations Mission in East Timor (Unamet), he
said.
For the operation of its combat equipment and cargo
aircraft in the past two weeks, Interfet has bought from Pertamina 110 kilolitres of
aircraft fuel and 80kl of diesel oil, and has ordered for 270kl of aircraft fuel and 220
kl of diesel, he said.
He said the price of kerosene being suplied to refugees in
East Nusa Tenggara had reached about Rp1000 per litre because it had to be transported as
there was no depot nearby.
