ETAN seeks Part-time Advocacy Coordinator

The Advocacy Coordinator will work with ETAN's National Coordinator (based in New York) to lead our advocacy work in Washington, DC. We seek somebody who understands how the U.S. government works, yet can see beyond election cycles and will not be limited by what is considered possible. The Advocacy Coordinator can be based anywhere on the East Coast but will have to regularly travel to Washington.

A successful candidate will:

  • Have significant experience working with Congress and the legislative process from a grassroots perspective. Experience working with the Administration is also helpful.

  • Be able to mobilize grassroots pressure to change government policy.

  • Have the initiative and organizational skills needed for a flexible position with limited supervision.

  • Be able to share some administrative and fundraising duties.

  • Have significant experience working on international human rights issues (experience with Indonesia and Timor-Leste preferred).

The position will be half-time (averaging 20 hours/week), with a salary in the $15,000 per year range. To apply, please send a cover letter, resume and writing sample to jobs@etan.org by December 15, 2008. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
