Medan, N Sumatra, March 11 (ANTARA) - East Timor President Xanana Gusmao visited Indonesia's tsunami devastated province of Naggroe Aceh Darussalam on Friday to inspect a number of affected areas and refugee camps in the province.

Xanana left here at 8 a.m. on board of a Foker 28 and will meet with Aceh Deputy Governor Azwar Abubakar before making the inspection.

One of the tsunami-affected area that Xanana will inspect is Lampulo in Ulele village, Meuraksa subdistrict, and several refugee camps in Banda Aceh.

Banda Aceh, Aceh, March 11 (ANTARA) - East Timor's President Xanana Gusmao who is attending the ongoing Lake Toba Summit (March 10-12) in Medan, North Sumatra, had the occasion to visit a number of tsunami-hit locations in Aceh on Friday.

On his arrival at Indonesia's Air Force base in Blang Bintang, Aceh Besar district at about 7 a.m., Xanana was welcomed by Aceh's Acting Governor Azwar Abubakar.

From the airbase, Xanana under tight escort proceeded to the Aceh governor's official residence before visiting the hardest-hit area, Ulee Lhue, and mass graveyard of tsunami victims in Siron village, Lambaro, before returning to Medan, North Sumatra.

Xanana said his visit to Aceh was intended to show solidarity to the Indonesian people, especially the Acehnese whose part of their areas were stricken by the gigantic tsunami on December 26, 2004, leaving more than 200,000 people dead and no less than 400,000 missing.

Meanwhile on the same day, Czech Foreign Minister Cyril Svoboda and entourage also visited disaster-hit locations and refugee camps in Aceh's capital of Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar district.

During his sojourn in Aceh, the Czech foreign minister in the company of Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Alwi Shihab and Aceh's Acting Governor Azwar Abubakar provided relief assistance to tsunami victims.
