RI Foreign Minister to attend Horta's swearing-in ceremony
JAKARTA (Antara): President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyonohas assigned Foreign Affairs Minister Hassan Wirajuda to attend the ceremony in Dili at which Timor Leste's President-elect Ramos Horta will be sworn in on May 20, 2007.
"The President will send Foreign Affairs Minister Hassan Wirajuda to represent the Indonesian government," presidential spokesmanDino Patti Djalal said Wednesday at the presidential office.
Indonesia will also make preparations for the planned visit of Horta to Jakarta around early June 2007, he said.
"We have not yet decided the date of the visit. However, the Indonesian Government has received an indication that Indonesia will be the first foreign country Horta will visit after assuming the presidential office," Djalal said.
In the upcoming visit, the issues that might be brought up would include bilateral relations in the economic and political sectors, such as those on border problems and the agenda of the Friendship and Truth Commission (CTF) being facilitated by the two countries to investigate the violence that occurred when East Timor was about to separate from Indonesia in 1999.
