ABC News E Timor Oppn calls for Aust Commander to face Parliament 3/26/08 East Timor's Opposition party Fretilin is demanding Australia's defence commander in Dili face Parliament to explain the role of his forces after last month's attack on the President Jose Ramos-Horta. The Fretilin party wants Brigadier James Baker to explain why his forces have failed to capture the rebel soldiers blamed for last month's attack on Dr Ramos-Horta and Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao. Fretilin has called on him to appear before the Parliament in Dili, to answer questions about how international soldiers responded when Dr Ramos-Horta was shot outside his home. Specifically, it wants to know whether international troops actively blocked the passage of an ambulance as Dr Ramos-Horta lay gravely wounded on the ground and whether, or why, there were delays in administering urgent medical treatment.
