Belo unwilling to be probed
JAKARTA (IO) — Coordinator of the
Military Advocacy Team Adnan Buyung Nasution has regretted the statements
by Dili Bishop Carlos Filipe Ximenes Belo rejecting the investigations to
be carried out by the military advocacy team.
"If Pak Belo had given information
to the UN Team (Commission of Inquiry on East Timor), why is he unwilling
to inform us? This is unfair. I really regret this," Buyung told
reporters on the sidelines of a discussion in Jakarta on Saturday.
He confirmed his advocacy team will today
leave for Dili. The team, consisting of 13 personnel, will question
several key figures, including President of the National Council of East
Timor Resistance (CNRT) Jose Xanana Gusmao.
Buyung said that Xanana Gusmao has agreed
to be investigated by the military advocacy team.
The team members, include former Justice
Minister Muladi, Ruhut Sitompul, and Hotma Sitompoel.
"We will stay there for five
days," Buyung was quoted by berpolitik.com as saying.
