Semarang: A final check of East Timorese living in East Java to be carried out on Thursday (30 August) at 0800 local time at the grounds of the governor's office on Pahlawan Street in Semarang [as received; Semarang is the capital of Central Java], will most likely be attended by former Timorese Integration Force Commander Eurico Guterres and a number of other officials from the Union of Timorese Warriors (UNTAS).

"Confirmation of Eurico's attendance has already been received by us," said the Coordinator of the East Java branch of UNTAS, Batista Sufa Kefi, to Suara Merdeka Cyber News on Monday (27 August).

Batista explained that former residents and veterans of the former 27th province in Indonesia had been asked to gather together for a final check and registration of their latest details.

"Also those who may not actually originate from East Timor but who feel they have rights to assets or money left in East Timor have also been asked to attend. No one else can represent them at this final registration process," he said...

Meanwhile, an elder from the East Timorese Community in Indonesia, A.M. Monteiro FG [name as received], said East Java had recorded 10,000 East Timorese in the region. Most have been contacted and asked to attend the event.

Anyone with neighbours, friends or family from East Timor or who have lived in the former province, have been requested to inform them of the upcoming activities...
