E TIMOR REFUGEES' INTEREST IN REPATRIATING INCREASING
BODY: Atambua, Nov 17 (ANTARA) - More and more East Timorese refugees
in East Nusa Tenggara are getting interested in a government-sponsored
repatriation program providing a special allowance to each family that
goes home.
The secretary of the task force for the settlement of East Timor
refugees in East Nusa Tenggara, DPO Tambunan, confirmed the trend here on
Saturday.
Every refugee family that joins the program is given a cash allowance
of Rp750,000.
Eighty-five families left for East Timor on Friday and a hundred more
are expected to leave on Monday under the program.
"More than one hundred families have already registered for
repatriation on Monday. More will possibly follow on the same day. Just
let's wait and see," he said.
