October 16, 2003 6:29am

JAKARTA, Oct 16, 2003 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- The Indonesian inter-parliament cooperation body is scheduled to visit East Timor on Oct. 20-23 to increase cooperation between parliaments of the two countries, an official said Thursday.

"The visit is also meant to follow up the request of Prime Minister Marie Alkatiri," Prasetya, the delegation coordinator of the Indonesian inter-parliament cooperation body, was quoted by Detikcom online news service as saying.

Prasetya said the delegation will discuss several issues including the refugee issue, the issue of Indonesian asset in East Timor and the border issue.

There are still four unsettled land border sites between the two countries, he said.

In relation to the plan to open Indonesian embassy in East Timor, he said it is only a matter of time.

East Timor seceded from Indonesia in August 1999 after a United Nations-organized ballot showed a landslide victory for the pro- independence group.
