TEMPO Interactive, Kupang: International Maritime Experts have declared
an International Commission of Jurists for the Timor Gap and Timor Sea/
Pacific Rim islands (ICJ-TGAP).
The declaration of this NGO was made in The Hague, Holland, on Monday
(12/18).
The ICJ-TGAP has 15 members from various countries and backgrounds with
experts in international relations, international law, international sea
law, maritime borders and human rights.
Ferdi Tanoni, Director of Foundation of West Timor Care said in a press
release received today (12/21) that the international commission was set
up to conduct scientific studies for drawing up the borders between
Indonesia, Australia and Timor Leste, based on international principles.
"The organization will also guide policy makers of the three
countries toward sustainable solutions as regards indistinct maritime
borders. In addition, it is expected that ICJ-TGAP will be able to defend
Indonesians' rights and interests especially traditional fishermen's
rights," said Tanoni.
