Australia ready to assist RI, Timor Leste in implementing CTF recommendations
Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Australia has expressed readiness to assist
Indonesia and Timor Leste in implementing the final recommendations of their
Commission of Truth and Friendship (CTF), Foreign Minister Hassan Wirayuda said
here on Friday.
"Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith and I discussed the CTF`s
final recommendations on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in
Singapore early this week," Wirayuda said.
However, the Indonesian foreign minister did not give further explanation
about the kind of assistance the Australian government has offered.
Asked what kind of assistance Australia would give, Wirayuda said, "Not
yet, even we are still studying the recommendations of the CTF."
He said the CTF`a` final recommendations were expected to overcome the
problems between Indonesia and Timor Leste in their efforts to face the present
with assurance and to look at a better future with confidence.
Wirayuda also reiterated that the CTF`s final recommendations were not
intended for use for judicial purposes.
Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Teuku Faizasyah said on the
sidelines of the ARF in Singapore, Wirayuda also held meetings with his
counterparts from the United States and New Zealand.
According to Teuku Faizasyah, the foreign ministers of other countries in the
ARF made positive comments on the CTF`s final recommendations. (*)
