UNMIT to strengthen judicial institutions: SRSG Atul Khare Radio
Televisaun Timor Leste 20 April 2009 - The United Nations Secretary
General's Special Representative in Timor-Leste, Atul Khare, said the
United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste would help strengthen the
country's judicial institutions by increasing human resource in justice
sector.
Prosecutor-General Pessoa's request is acceptable to President Horta
and Prime Minister Gusmao Radio Televisaun Timor Leste 20 April 2009 -
Prosecutor General Ana Pessoa's request to replace MP Carmelita Moniz and
Minister for Education Joao Cancio Freitas as members of the Council of
the Public Prosecution is acceptable to President Horta and Prime Minister
Xanana Gusmao.
President Horta calls on Carrascalao to combat corruption soon Timor
Post 20 April 2009 - President Jose Ramos Horta has called on Deputy Prime
Minister Mario Viegas Carrascalao to combat corruption found in the
Government institutions immediately, as some of the Government officials
are suspected of being engaged in corrupt practices.
Timor-Leste, Australia and Indonesia will cooperate in field of

such as the Ministry of Justice, the Public Prosecution and the Court of
Appeal have set up a five-systematic teams to elaborate plans for the
country's justice sector.
East Timor Public Broadcaster (RTTL) car procurement case and other
corruption cases reopened Radio Televisaun Timor Leste 20 April 2009 -
Deputy Prime Minister for Management and Administration, Mario Viegas
Carrascalão said RTTL [public broadcasting]’s cars purchasing case and
other corruption case, which were being registered in the public
prosecution had been reopened for further legal process.
CNRT prefers appointing national prosecutor to become Deputy
Prosecutor-General Timor Post , 20 April 2009 - MP Virginia Belo from the
National Congress for Timorese Reconstruction (CNRT) said they preferred
President Jose Ramos Horta to appoint a national prosecutor as deputy
prosecutor general, as this was a way how the Timorese prosecutors can
improve their skills and knowledge rather that appointing Paulo Remeido.
