WIRANTO SKIPS E TIMOR RIGHTS COURT SESSION
Jakarta, Feb 5 (ANTARA) - Former defence minister/ military chief Gen.
(ret) Wiranto on Wednesday failed to show up as a witness in the trial of
former chief of Wira Dhama military resort Brig. Gen. Tono Suratman
accused of involvement in the post-ballot mayhem in East Timor in 1999.
As Wiranto was not present, the special Indonesian Human Rights
Tribunal decided to adjourn the session until next week.
The tribunal was originally planned to grill Wiranto as a witness last
week but he did not show up.
A source said the former military chief had yet to receive a summons
from the court to give his testimonies.
According to ad hoc prosecutor G Simangunsong, Wiranto could not show
up because he was out of town.
