East Timor: Government reshuffle ready, says PM Alkatiri
Dili, Feb. 28 (Lusa) - Prime Minister Mari Alkatiri confirmed Friday
that he is ready to reshuffle and restructure East Timor's first
post-independence government.
In comments to Lusa, Alkatiri said he would send President Xanana
Gusmão a letter Monday detailing the planned changes, which he described
as being "everything but cosmetic".
He declined to elaborate on the reshuffle of his cabinet, which took
office at independence May 20.
Government sources, however, told Lusa that one main alteration would
be the creation of a "ministry to the presidency" to be
entrusted to Justice Minister Ana Pessoa, making her Alkatiri's chief aide
in the cabinet.
